English Version
Hello Markeloff, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, and let’s start things off by introducing yourself to the Chinese fans here.
Hey there. My name is Yegor “markeloff” Markelov, I play in Counter-Strike team of Natus Vincere. I’m a good sniper and a very kind person
You guys prepared so much before the GameGune but still failed to take revenge against SK, what happened?
True! We’ve been practicing for almost 3 weeks or so. We had a lot of misunderstanding between some members during the practicing period but we thought there was no any problem and it would not affect the result because it was just a practice. We were wrong. It affected. Players started to argue during the match against SK. But that was not the only problem. We lost 2 pistol rounds but still took 11 rounds. We could easily win that match, but a series of unfortunately events made it does not happen.
Do you think the map de_nuke was a factor in the loss against SK? What would you guys do to improve on probably your worst map?
De_nuke is the best map for SK and the worst for us but we still can win it. We practiced this map so many times that we could win but it happened, as I said before. The reason we lost to SK was not because of gameplay practice but because of human factor.
You guys were leading after half time against ESC in the lower bracket final, what went wrong on the CT-side?
I wish I could know. Maybe it was the echoes of SK loss, I really don’t know. I hope it won’t happen again, because I was sure we could beat SK in the grand final. Yet, we did a mistake that stopped us on the 3rd place. #sadface
Do you think GameGune’s double elimination format is something that favors other “weaker” teams like ESC or x6tence because it’s easier for an upset?
It doesn’t matter whether I like it or not. We knew about the tournament format beforehand and practiced for it just like the rest of the teams. It is the same story for the upcoming e-Stars Seoul championship. But I think it’s a little bit easier for the “weaker” teams to win only one map instead of winning two.
SK became unstoppable soon after acquiring Delpan and ESC used karrigan as a ringer en route to the final. Do you think that CS has grown to be a game that only depends on individual talents instead of teamwork and a lot of practice? The upcoming E-Stars in Seoul will feature almost all the best teams in the world. How are you guys preparing for the event?
I don’t think that CS has grown to be a game like that. SK with Delpan have had a lot of time to earn some teamwork and tactics before they won their first tournament. And they are still growing up. About ESC I can say that they have very good players with impressive individual skills. But they had a lot of luck to won a match against us and ranked 2nd.
We reached a good individual shape during preparation for the past tournaments. The only thing we need to cut were the problems emerged at GameGune plus improve a lot of pistol rounds. We will start practicing it in the nearest future.
What is your goal in the tournament? Who do you think will give you a tough time in Korea?
Our goal for every tournament is to score gold! mTw, FX and SK of course will be our main opponents in Korea!
Teams in attendance for E-Stars include EG, Tyloo and Project, all with a new line-up and appearing first time on the international stage. What do you think are their chances matching up against Europe powerhouses like SK,mTw ,FX and you guys?
I think these are very good teams with huge potential but they need a lot more experience to play against European top teams.
SK has been winning almost every tournament since the addition of Delpan and defeated you guys twice already. Do you think they could ride that momentum in E-Stars grow into a force that would be impossible to stop like the NaVi in 2010?
Nothing lasts forever. Proved by Na`Vi. Even the last year we lost a lot of tournaments. You can’t win everything. Without a doubt it will be hard to stop them but we will try!
Delpan and you are probably two of the most dominant AWPers in the world and fans like to compare you guys. What do you think are some of the similarities and differences between you and Delpan?
It’s really hard to compare me and Marcus. I think I play smarter with a big green gun and he probably has better reflexes, but I’m not sure about it
Who do you guys usually practice against? Do you only practice against USSR teams or also against other European teams?
We are trying to play against teams like Lions, mouz, ESC, x6, eSahara etc. They are obviously not the best teams in the world but we are trying some new tactic against team like that before using them with a top team. It is more effectively because you can find some leaks and fix mistakes.
What is NaVi’s plan for the rest of 2011? Do you think you will be attending IEM Guangzhou?
Our main plan is to win ESWC and WCG! We can’t go in China because of WCG Ukraine qualifier starting a week before the tournament in Guangzhou. And it’s sad. China is a great country and I love it and always enjoying being there!
What is your opinion on CS Promod? Do you think it could be a game that would eventually replace 1.6 in the future?
No doubt CS Promod can’t replace a game like CS 1.6… To do that it should be a really similar game with same physics and stuff. I’m not sure it could happen sometime. But who knows!
Any last word to your Chinese fans?
Firstly I would like to say huge thanks to Murat Zhumashevich for everything he is doing for our team and for everybody who loves CS Also big thanks to our sponsors SteelSeries, Antec and Kaspersky!
I visited China about 3 times and it was always great to meet people living there. They are so friendly and always try to help:) So I want to say thank you guys for supporting, cheering and believing in us even if something goes wrong! Your faith – our win! Love you!

in China?
